Founded under the Arts and Music Guild in January 2016, the 1-2-1 Program connects passionate youth and artists with local nursing home residents, establishing a greater sense of intergenerational community involvement. In addition to documenting and capturing the aging process in an innovative, thought-provoking way, the 1-2-1 Program instigates a creative process that engages the mind to step back and say "Look what
I did," ultimately replenishing self-pride with a tangible measure of achievement. The goal of this program is not to create yet another dull activity or tedious engagement for nursing home residents, but rather to foster one-on-one relationships exploring artistic ingenuity. Each year, we plan to host an art show at the Cove, a local gallery, to celebrate and display the residents' dedication and newfound passion. This year, we had our first show, which is displayed on this page through videos and images.
